Too Much Pre + More Piercings

Howdy friends! I had a productive day – the usual consisting of work and then a workout!

Breakfast was a protein shake as per the usual, but I need to stop being lazy and acquire some spinach and different fruit such as raspberries or blueberries for my smoothies!

My OOTD (forgive my pissy facial expression) – an Express white sweater with a FP Galloon racerback bra in Ballet, Get Gussied Up (a local store) bells, and sale Stud Boston Birkenstocks from FP. I’m not really into the whole “busy cowgirl” look, but damn, if I don’t find some treasures at Get Gussied Up on occasion. 😉

Lunch was a treat, a salad from Frulatti – I choose the Chicken Caesar on the garden mix. I, however, am gonna stop having the crackers and croutons if I do indulge in this salad in the future because the CARBZ, but I’m almost resigned to packing my own lunch at this point so I can lower my calorie count.

And then after 8 hours of work, it was time to hit the gym! And, of course, I did something *SO* dumb! I took an entire scoop of pre-workout thinking I could handle it … aaaaaand 20 minutes and two machines later, I literally felt like vomiting. I drove home, weakened, and guess what, I barfed a watery mix of pre and water out soon after arrival. Gross. :/

After drinking lots of water and allowing my tummy to settle, I had the world’s biggest orange, and it was perfectly delicious to me. I need to pick a few more up at United because it was sooo succulent.

Dinner was just okay and was pretty rich and heavy to my poor stomach – I ate all of the raw broccoli (my fav) and jalapeno ranch dressing, and I had a few bites of roasted potato and a few bites of Andouille sausage with a bit of ketchup.

After dinner,  I made a big fat mug of hot Salted Caramel tea while listening to some German rock musicals.

Fun Event of the Day: Okay y’all – so! I’ve been wanting to have my ears pierced with a third hole on each ear, and I stopped by our local Claire’s to inquire about pricing on my lunch break today, thinking it’d be about $10-$15 like it used to be. HOWEVER ,oh HOWEVER, my friends – the cheapest piercing studs at Claire’s were $30 EACH (the piercing is actually free, but you have to buy the pricey studs). Spending $60+ on my two ears seemed RIDICULOUS …. so I did something a little unorthodox. I went home, dug out the two old ruby piercing studs used on my second ear piercings (from Claire’s many years ago), and called upon The Luke.

Luke, you see, has used his 18 gauge needle to open up my nose piercing on numerous occasions (i.e. times that I took it out and promptly forgot about it), and he makes it pretty painless, so I asked him if he’d try piercing my ears (in the most sanitary way possible, btw). He said that he’d try it, and y’all … it didn’t hurt me one bit! It took an extra push to get my studs through the holes, but damn if it didn’t hurt and was just pressure. So now I have three piercings on my ears! I plan on putting my littlest ear huggies in them once they’re fully healed. 🙂 HUZZAH for saving $60+ and for two painless piercings!

Alrighty, I’m off to clean up the apartment a smidge and then hit the hay – 7:00 a.m. always comes waaaay too early!

Protein Shakes + Piercings

Howdy there folks! Just another day in the life for ya ….

Instead of just fruit for breakfast, I’ve been drinking protein shakes – just a scoop or two or protein, a banana, and milk with ice.

Lunch today was a conglomeration of turkey, Laughing Cow cheese, cucumbers, and tomatoes with a little honey mustard.

Gym time for an hour and fifteen minutes today! We did legs. Afterwards, I had Luke snap a few “before” pics – I hope that I see improvement soon with consistency and less carbs and sugar.

An Ambrosia apple as a post workout snack!

And a kombucha (not my favorite flavor but it was refreshing enough in the heat) from Natural Grocers where I browsed for about 30 minutes …

….. and then a little Boar’s Head snack tray with Gouda chicken salad, cheese, a few crackers, and some withered grapes which I didn’t eat.

Last night Luke mentioned to me that he missed my nose ring. I had taken it out in January, and I *thought* it had healed … I tried putting my nose ring in, and with a bit of poking and pushing, it opened up again! I also bought a set of hoop earrings (see below) at Target – I want to get my ears pieced a third time, and this cute little set comes with three earrings for each ear!

Dinner was interesting, ha! I had a few pieces of United chicken tenders (not that healthy, but hey, it’s protein) with ranch and ketchup (sugar :/ but I tried to keep my dipping lighter than in the past) ….

(The cats enjoyed dinner with me, damn them and their cuteness!)

Then I watched Game of Thrones with Luke … and I cried. No spoilers here, I promise …. but ugh. Have a good night, y’all! I’m off to bed.

The “Leg” and Short of It

Howdy y’all!

Today started out with a protein shake ….

…. and soon after, my friend and I grabbed a polish sausage on the way from the bank (work-related). Yummy with taco sauce!

Lunch was a wrap from United with a side of ranch!

Work was fab :)! I enjoy my job a ton, and it’s fun to see my friends everyday! Yep, I have work friends, and I love them!

And after work was gym time – it was leg day. (Forgive my crazy raccoon-eyed face, I had taken a scoop of pre-workout and was feeling flushed!)

Aaaand dinner was a FABULOUS chopped salad with two eggs and some shredded cheese.

And now I’m off to clean up the apartment – I have lots of good energy after my workout, and it’s great to channel it into chores and cleaning.

Have a nice night, my friends!

Lifting + Thriving

Hey guys! Last time I left you with a post about struggling with depression and mania – I talked to my doctor, and his nurse practitioner put me on lithium, but lithium didn’t seem to do much after a few weeks, so I’m off it. However, I think I’m on an upswing thanks to several factors.

Factor 1 – I’m lifting weights DAILY. And not pansy soccer mom weights to get toned – I’m lifting to get RIPPED.

Factor 2 – My job and my co-workers. My bosses totally understand that I have bipolar disorder, and they’re both very accommodating to me. No, I don’t get paid very much for my job, but damn if it’s not worth keeping right now because of my kind bosses and my sweet coworkers.

Factor 3 – The food situation. Luke’s giving me about $20 a day to buy my meals – I usually eat a piece of fruit or have a protein shake for breakfast, so I get 2 meals out of $20 …. it’s pretty nice! I’m focusing on eating less carbs (farewell, Auntie Annie’s pretzels at the mall 😦 ), and more protein.

Factor 4 – Acceptance of my body. Y’all. This is HUGE. I’ve accepted that I’m not meant to weigh 125 lbs again. I’ve accepted that my body is meant to be powerful. I currently weigh 155 lbs, and I’m OKAY WITH IT. In fact, I’d like to weigh around 165 with muscle. It’s AMAZING to have finally had a change of perspective after 20 years, and I truly hope it sticks (knock on wood).

Factor 5 – My support system. I don’t know where I’d be without my family and friends, particularly my Luke. He’s encouraging and comforting, but he’s also pushing me out of my comfort zone when it comes to weightlifting, and it’s wonderful – we all need a little push every now and then if you ask me.

Today was back day with weights – I’ve been doing weights consistently each day for about a week and a half now. We do reps in the order of 20-15-12-10-15, and it really does work me out!

Eats today ~

I hopped in the car bright and early to grab some Hydroxzyine from my pharmacy downtown (sans makeup and with wet hair because I needz mah pillz), and I grabbed a cold Starbucks coffee on the way home.

Torchy’s Tacos (a Baja Shrimp taco and a Trailer Park taco, trashy). We skipped the queso today, and I was happily full, not overly stuffed.

And a chicken salad made from a bagged salad and some chicken tenders a la United.

I also demolished a potato but didn’t document it – ugh, I was too full afterwards! That’s one of the many “post-ED issues” that I’m dealing with right now – being too full, overeating at times, and pooping often (yes, ED people often don’t poop).

And naturally I’ve been looking at some new workout clothing – Free People’s active wear is golden, so here are the workout clothes that I WaUnt ~

Give Your All Harem Pant in Tiger’s Eyes

Happiness Runs Bodysuit in Black or Vintage Alpine Lake

On the Road Pant in Heather Grey

About Town Harem Pant in Taupe

I’m going to give myself a lot more time working out and seeing how my body develops before buying any clothes – but these are fun to look at, and I do have a FP refund coming soon … maybe I’ll snag one or two pieces. 🙂

I’ll try to keep up with my blogging a bit more readily, so I’ll try another post tomorrow.

Down 10

Howdy friends! Soo I went to the eye doc last Thursday for a check up, and it turns out that I had a virus in my left eye … icky! I wore my glasses for a few days, but that was okay – I had eye drops to help with the inflammation, and my insurance paid for my entire doc visit and the prescriptions, so huzzah! (Miss Calliope wanted some cuddles, so I obliged!)

Okeeeey y’all, I came to a conclusion a few days ago ~ I’ve been eating waaaaay too much over the past few months (i.e. like over the last eight months-ish) and I need to tone down my portions as I’m losing weight (I’ve lost 10 lbs as of today). Indeed, there CAN be too much of a good thing when it comes to food! It’s all about the process of learning how to eat, however, and it’s interesting to come from a place of recovery (Center for Discovery in Bellevue, WA) into the real world! I’m now attempting to eat a little less, but not in a way of deprivation … so here we go with random meals ~

Breakfasts

My breakfasts as of late usually consist of a piece of fruit or two, depending on how hungry I am feeling.

Lunches

Lunch typically is eaten at work – I pack salads and sandwiches most of the time. Howev, we had Torchy’s Tacos one day while I was off, and it was a treat (if you read this blog regularly, you know that Luke and I are big fans of Torchy’s – it’s right by our apartment, and it’s like $23 for a queso and four tacos).

Snacks

Clearly snacking to me = veggies and dip, consisting mainly of cucs.

Dinners

In other fun news, hubs purchased a reloading kit for his workbench – love my happy hubby with his new toy!

Silly selfie with my muscular man!

And yes, I’ve been terrible about posting – it’s hard to have a full time job and post regularly, but I’d like to get a bit better at it. Fingers crossed!

Have a fab day, my friends!
